When we started thinking about what impact we wanted to have at the Bella Kinks DFW Natural Hair Expo, one of our favorite places to vend, our CEO and Founder, Mahisha Dellinger had one thing on her mind; GIRLS ON SKATES!!!! From there, Event Director Brodrika Jackson formulated the grand master plan of an 80's themed booth, with a deejay, rocking out the hits, an elite candy bar, and so much more! Take a peek!

Welcome to the 80's

If you were not at the Bella Kinks DFW Natural Hair Expo this weekend, you missed out! CURLS was live and "in the House," pun intended! Our 80's inspired theme truly encouraged our guests to let it all hang out, have a good time, dance, socialize and learn more about their naturally curly hair. The CURLS Loft wasn't complete without the delicious 80's candy bar. Remember the best of the best like Now and Laters, Sugar Babies, Pixy Stix, Pop Rocks, and Candy Buttons? We also had CURLS Flukes stuffed with sweet, soft cotton candy for a decadent treat! 20161023_131303_resized The Epic Weekend, led by the #Curlboss herself, Julian Addo, was a complete culmination of natural hair education, curly-hood (otherwise known as sisterhood), women's empowerment and entrepreneurial preparation. The kickstarter of the weekend was the Black Excellence Dinner, showcasing the works of Brand Owners, and contributors to this movement. A casual time to reflect on the development of our community and how we cannot do it alone but must commit to helping one another. We heard from the mother of the Glam Twinz as she expressed her pride and gratitude to those who have supported her daughters along their successful journey amongst other examples of Black Excellence throughout the night. The peaceful night ended with a great night of dancing with the girls, and a rich hearty Jamaican meal. 20160420094322_IMG_0847 Next up, the Expo! Women stood in line 2 hours before the event to enter and poured into the F.I.G- Fashion Industry Gallery, when the show began! Ready to serve, the CURLS Girls offered shots of the new Blissful Lengths Liquid Hair Vitamin while sharing premium sized Blueberry Bliss Reparative Leave In Conditioner. Mini CURLS Girls skated around in tutus and white skates, sharing samples of our Curly Q's Organic Hair Care Products for Kids. Plus the CURLS Collections were deeply discounted for our guests! Throughout the day, intriguing speakers shared content while audience members awaited the highly anticipated CEO panel of mega hair product moguls like our very own Mahisha Dellinger. The segment moderated by Julian opened up the conversation of what it really takes to be a CEO within this genre! 20160421045122_IMG_0957 Did you catch the Twist Out workshop by @NaturallyChea? With 3 models, she slayed 3 different twist out methods for a gorgeous finish, using CURLS Blueberry Bliss Twist N Shout Cream. All of her attendees received a CURLS Bag of goodies which included a Full-sized Bottle of the Blissful Lengths Liquid Hair Vitamin, Blueberry Bliss Twist N Shout Cream and more! Give her a round of applause, this was the first workshop she has EVER done!

Other Workshops include Prince... I mean, Janelle Sands, CURLS Educator moderating a segment with Nutritionist LaShante Williams, owner of A Fresh Start and Nicole Allen, owner of Roots on Tap. Together they explored the benefits of a liquid vitamin and all guest got to sample the Blissful Lengths Liquid Hair Growth Vitamin infused in their deliciously blended teas and smoothies! All in all, this was one of the DOPEST Natural Hair Events and CURLS was happy to be a part. When asked what was the most rewarding thing about this second edition of the Bella Kinks DFW Natural Hair Expo, Julian Addo explains," The most rewarding is that the women came, enjoyed themselves and felt full from the weekend. I feel like who I am, what I stand for and my spirit was left with each of them!"
