As a woman of color, I wanted to flaunt my natural hair and celebrate what God has given me. It was very frustrating looking for natural hair products that are both healthy for my hair and good for this world.
I had a vision that women would be able to go to any retailer and find incredibly functional products, with quality ingredients, that celebrate our various curl patterns. So the dream was born! What was a vision became a reality when I launched CURLS Beauty Brands.
Today, women can find CURLS on retail shelves- offering an array of products to fit their various hair care and styling needs.

From Humble Beginnings
As a young girl growing up with her single mother in the projects, Mahisha witnessed the closeness of her community when there’s love and grace. Through this upbringing, Mahisha built a personal and professional mantra of always growing with tenacity and reverence. Mahisha details the story of her road to success in her book Against All Odds: From the Projects to the Penthouse.
Mahisha received a degree in business administration and marketing from California State University Sacramento before beginning her career as a Marketing Manager for Intel Corporation. It was there that she discovered her true passion in life: creating effective and eco-conscious products for natural curly hair. Mahisha learned quickly to take charge of her life and control her destiny.
We have been fortunate to also work with celebrities such as Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Nia Long, Tia Mowry, Chili of the Grammy award wining R&B group, TLC, Blair Underwood, Ashanti, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Echo Kellum- to name a few. Industry influencers and bloggers also collaborate with us because of our product performance, quality ingredients and ethical business practices.
To Building a Brand
Mahisha launched CURLS Beauty Brands in 2002 and never looked back. Frustrated with the lack of products for natural, curly hair, Mahisha worked to develop an award-winning line of organic hair care products and singlehandedly built the demand for the CURLS brand.
Her entry into mass retailers made it possible for natural hair customers to access CURLS everywhere. Mahisha was at the forefront of the natural hair movement. Pushing for women to rock their beautiful locks, Mahisha tirelessly advocate natural hair at conferences, shows and interviews.
Today the CURLS natural hair care collections line retail shelves across the US and internationally.

To Lifting Others
In addition to running CURLS Beauty Brands, Mahisha dedicates her time to helping other women of color succeed in the business landscape. This is through her experience in the corporate world and recognizing black women have the lowest opportunities extended to them. Mahisha then embarked on a journey to build a blueprint for success for African American female entrepreneurs.
Through her show on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), “Mind Your Business with Mahisha Dellinger” and her business coaching conferences,”Black Women Making Millions”- Mahisha helps other women business owners navigate the business landscape through mentoring and her vast network.
